Bowling Anyone?

Six Squash from two plants.
There is a second wave of female and male flowers
so I might get a few more - but wait!

This is the first time I have ever spotted squash vine borer eggs but here is the question. Isn't it too late in the season for them and what are these little spider like guys? I read that they are the first stage of the larvae. Could this be true. Click on the picture to enlarge.

  1. I really don't know what those little spider like guys are. The SVB eggs that I found (I think) looked a little different. I found pics of eggs that look like yours and ones that look like the ones that I found. Yes, I definitely think that it's too late in the season for them.

I just checked my Spaghetti squash and it looks like only one vine has them!! I actually have 3 new babies out there.

  2. I think they are squash bugs not vine borers. We have them here. They suck the juice out of the plant but don't burrow into it.
